Bradford Children and Families Trust is proud to support the first-ever National Supported Lodgings Week, taking place from 9 to 16 November 2025.
This new campaign shines a light on supported lodgings – where young people aged 16+ live with a host who provides a safe home, everyday guidance and the support of a trusted adult as they move toward independence.
Supported lodgings play a vital role in offering stability for young people who are leaving care, are separated migrant children or are at risk of homelessness. Despite the growing use and impact of supported lodgings, awareness remains low.
Currently in Bradford, there are just a handful of hosts who offer their homes and their support to children and young people who could otherwise be facing a cliff edge of care at a significant period of change in their lives.
Throughout the week, Bradford Children and Families Trust will share real stories, videos and information across local networks to raise awareness and encourage enquiries from potential hosts.
Charlotte Ramsden, Chief Executive of Bradford Children and Families Trust said.
“Some children and young people, from the age of 16, feel ready to move on from more well-known forms of care such as foster care and residential care or in some cases, these forms of care have been explored and are not an option. Supported Lodgings can bridge the gap between a child or young person being looked after and being out on their own in the world.
“Our hosts play a vital role to children and young people at a time when their lives are changing and developing, they stand alongside someone during a critical stage of transition.
“In Bradford we need more hosts. It can be an immensely rewarding position to be in, helping to shape the start of a young person’s life as they learn how to be independent. If you have a spare room at home and believe you could provide the stable, supported start they need into early adulthood, then consider supported lodgings and get in touch.”
