Foster for Bradford shines a light on Foster Care Fortnight 2026

Hundreds of families across the Bradford district are quietly changing lives by opening their homes to children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families.

This Foster Care Fortnight (11–24 May), Foster for Bradford is joining the national campaign led by The Fostering Network to celebrate the everyday impact of fostering and the people who make it happen. This year’s theme, “This is Fostering”, puts real voices and real experiences centre stage.

From small wins to relationships built with birth families, Foster for Bradford’s campaign will share the moments that define fostering – and the commitment, skill and compassion foster carers show, often in challenging circumstances.

More foster carers urgently needed

cartoon image of 2 adults representing foster carers stood on the middle of a see-saw behind a cartoon child. Above the people are the words Foster Care Fortnight and on either side of the people are the words This is Fostering, along with images of a house, question marks, exclamation mark, a clock, a piggy bank with coins dropping into it and other images meant to represent what is involved in being a foster carer. Under the image is the hashtag FCF and the Fostering Network logo.

More foster carers are needed across the Bradford district to make sure every child can be matched with the right home to meet their individual needs. Throughout May, the Foster for Bradford recruitment team and foster carer ambassadors will be out and about across Bradford and Keighley, meeting residents and answering questions about fostering.

This includes a takeover of Bradford Council’s flagship Darley Street Market, offering relaxed, informal opportunities to find out what fostering is really like.

Voices from the fostering community

Over the two-week campaign, stories from across the fostering community will be shared highlighting why people foster and the difference it makes to show the reality of fostering and the positive impact foster carers have on children and young people across the district.

Emma Naylor, Registered Manager of Foster for Bradford added:

“Our team is looking forward to getting out and about this May and talking people about fostering.

“If you have ever thought about fostering and want to find out more, please come along to one of our events and have a chat with one of our foster carer ambassadors or recruitment team.”
